First Smile September 5, 2009
Mason always gave a reflex type of smile since he was born, but this day he looked up at me, eyes shining, and gave me a big smile.
First slept through the night December 18, 2009Just before Mason turned 3 months he went to one night feeding and just 4 days before 4 months he started sleeping through the night. He didn't do either gradually, so I was panicked when he didn't wake me up. Now he pretty much only wakes up when he is going through a growth spurt or teething.
First rolled over January 19, 2010I put Mason on his mat on the floor on his back. I walked into the kitchen and came back with him on his belly! He hasn't stopped since. He will only roll to his left. It took a few more weeks for him to roll over from his belly to his back, but has only done so about a dozen times since.
First ate solid food February 12, 2010We first started giving Mason rice cereal and he would eat very little. Now he eats oatmeal cereal, pears, apples, prunes, plums, bananas, blueberries, avocados, peas, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, chicken, and turkey! I have been making all of his baby food instead of using the jars. Thankfully he likes my cooking. He is not quite ready for finger foods just yet, all is still pureed.
First tooth March 12, 2010Well, in his case it was 2 teeth, the bottom 2 at the same time. He now has 4 teeth with 2 more coming in!
First swim May 9, 2010Brad's mom and sister came up for Mother's day and were staying at the JW Marriott. We decided to try the lazy river there. We weren't sure how this was going to go since Mason hates baths! He whined a little at first, but became intrigued at everything. A little while later he fell asleep on my shoulder! This was the best thing we could of ever done. He no longer cries during baths (ever since the swim) and he is even starting to smile and play a little during his bath!
First wave May 10, 2010I was carrying Mason in Publix, picking up a few groceries, when the guy in the meat department waved at Mason. Mason reached out his hand and proceeded to wave back, fingers moving and all. He hasn't done it much since. It even took 3 more days before he would show his daddy he could wave.
Sitting Unsupported May 21, 2010For a month or two he could sit up so long as we were there to catch him, but this day he sat there all by himself with no problems.
First Crawled June 10, 2010For the past couple of months he has been scooting on his belly... backwards. Mason was playing with his stacking rings and the one he wanted got out of reach, so he just got up on his hands and knees and started cruising towards it... forwards! He hasn't stopped since. He is excited about his new mode of transportation.
First Word July 13, 2010Mason started the morning with mama! From there he has said dada and dog!
First Stood Up August 25, 2010
He decided to wait until a few days after turning 1 so he could stand up! I was looking at some papers on the couch and he wanted to see what I was doing so he stood up so he could get a better view!
